Meet the Parents

David and I at the shooting range after the folks left. What a wonderful weekend!

Pictures are out of order . . . there's no reason the first picture is David with a gun, and the Meet the Parents blog!

Me shooting David's rifle - burning off a little "got pulled over and got a ticket" stress!

Dad didn't believe in smiling for this pic. Drinking a double-shot of espresso

David and I playing a quick game of iPhone checkers . . . I think he beat me.

Lounging around, prior to going to Louisville for the day.

Well my folks made the trek here this weekend and we had a wonderful visit! They got in Friday night and I cooked another GREAT dinner (if I must say so myself). It's not that I'm a great cook, I just like finding good recipes and following them. It was a Cherry Balsamic Glazed London Broil served with Asparagus and roasted potatoes.
Saturday I planned a day in Louisville. We started out at the Kentucky Museum of Art and Craft so my folks could see my jewelry on display. I dropped off new stuff too - to replesh what had already been sold. I have a new knitted necklace design, I'll have to post some photos because it's probably one of my new personal favorites.
Right up the street is the Louisville Slugger Museum and Factory. We heard it's pretty neat and worth checking out. I DISAGREE! While we had fun with the folks, the best part of the whole deal was that we got mini souvenir bats. If you have a military ID, you get in free, otherwise it's $5 per person. There were several problems with the tour. You start out watching a video about baseball. Among the famed baseball players to include in their outdated video, were Sammy Sosa and Derek Jeter. Umm . . . speaking of baseball bats, does Louisville Slugger endorse corked bats? Hmm?! Yeah, so they need a little updating.
Anyways . . . we had about 3 hours before our dinner reservations, so we grabbed a quick bite, then sat in a coffee store until it closed, then drove to the Brown Hotel and had a WONDERFUL dinner! It was truly a treat!
So, the whole time my folks were here, I told them, DO NOT SPEED! DO NOT GO 1 MILE OVER THE SPEED LIMIT or you WILL GET PULLED! Seriously, I told them this about 5 times because I see someone pulled over EVERYDAY in front of their hotel. Well . . . on my way to pick them up for church on Sunday, before I could do anything about it, I realized I was going too fast, slammed on brakes. I knew it was too late. Sure enough, I see blue lights coming after me. Seriously?! I pulled over, right in front of the hotel, where I told my folks people get pulled all the time. I just didn't think it would be me.
After a few tears and church, we came back to our room for a little brunch and wii golf. I WON! Mom and dad headed on to Lexington where they were staying with family friends. It was time to confess to DH what happened. Sheepishly I told him. I don't know what I expected, but he wasn't mad. I'm sure he could see I had already beaten myself up about it!
He knew just how to cheer me up. He took me to the shooting range and I shot a rifle!
