We've been known to dress up in masks and walk around campus, because we thought it would be funny. Or do whatever we could to embarrass each other in public, scream each other's names - write things in chalk all around campus . . . pretty much good times.
Now we're all grown up. Loser works at a law firm in Chicago, Dump is in the process of starting up a law firm with her fiance, Klump works at the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, and Lump is only a couple of hours away in Madison, WI.
I got in the car and made the 6-hour trek ready to go! Friday night we all get in at different times to Loser's apartment and after we had all arrived, went out for a drink and appetizers then came back to the apartment to stay up for hours watching Tyra, gossiping and catching up.
Saturday morning, we went up the street to Ann Sather's breakfast cafe, which has AMAZING cinnamon rolls. Then we headed on the train and got out at somewhere in the city to just shop around. I don't think any of us actually bought anything . . . just chatted and browsed.
We cooked dinner at Loser's, enjoyed a glass of wine, got all ready to go out, then went Dump's fiance's condo (soon to be both of theirs!) and ended up playing Catch Phrase, Cranium, and drinking until 4am!
Needless to say, Sunday morning came around too quickly. After a brunch and Bloody Mary at Joey something-or-others, the other ladies headed on their way, and Loser and I met some of her law school buddies downtown to the AMC Theatre to see "I Love You, Man" and followed it up with a couple of games of bowling at the Lucky Strike Bowling Lanes
After bowling so poorly the first round, I thought a little healthy competition might round things out a bit. Winner buys a drink - the games were closer and a little more exciting. But I lost.
Since I wasn't antsing to leave or get on the road, Loser welcomed me to stay another night, so I did! Dump picked me up and we met Klump downtown for a lunch. Then it was goodbye's and on the road. I had such a good time!
After talking wedding talk with Dump - I think a future blog with go into all the ways I was able to save money on our wedding. There are plenty of places to cut back and save a buck.
Anyhoo . . . today I got to watch DH perform a training mission in an elaborate training city set up here at Fort Knox. It was pretty awesome. I'll post pictures of that next.
