What I'll be Wearing

Monday I had a moment. A moment where I stepped on the scale and was fed up with my recent weight gain. It's not just the number. It's the fact my clothes don't fit the way they should and that I haven't been able to maintain a consistence workout regiment since my last half marathon. Well ever since my husband redeployed really. But standing on the scale was a wake-up call to do something about it.

So I went for a little retail therapy. A little Marshalls retail therapy. I bought a few new pairs of workout pants and tops to add to the mix. There's nothing worse than feeling motivated to work out and have all your exercise clothes in the dirty clothes basket. And now there's one less excuse.
I also decided to wear my workout clothes every day until I get my workout in. I'm not an early morning workout person, I wish I was. I mean I get up early - I just can't make myself do PT first thing. And I also know that if I take the effort to get all dolled up for the day - a workout ain't gonna happen. So this was my solution. Maybe it will even force me to complete my workouts earlier.

While in fashion, beauty definitely takes precedent over comfort, but when it comes to working out, comfort takes ultimate priority.

My mind wants to wear things fun, flirty & fitted. Anything like you'd find here and here.

But until then ...
My workout must-haves include:

*Asics Running Shoes #2150 (~$90 - but you can score a deal now and again)
*Running pants/tights - whatever you want to call these things (I got several pairs at Marshalls for $20 each. These are Columbia. New Balance and Nike make great pants too. They're awesome because they usually have a little pocket for a key and an ID card.)
*Super thin/moisture wicking tops (This one was $13 -New balance & Nike are my favorites)
*Running belt- There's nothing worse than being thirsty on a run.
*Ipod Nano - I MUST have good music.

Now off to go to the grocery store (yes looking like this - minus the ear phones and running belt). But I will definitely throw on a jacket to feel a little less self conscious!

Then I'll be home in time to get in another good run.
Join me on dailymile. I'm back on there and will be logging in my workouts.

What are you workout must-haves?

  2. I have to exercise before I shower in the morning, or I won't do it. I've been exercising to workout videos while the kids eat breakfast. This means I don't have time for a shower before taking my oldest to school. But its worth it, because today, for the first time ever, I noticed a BICEP MUSCLE on my arm. Welcome to the gun show.

  3. My best workout must-have is a friend! I always find if I have one of my friends with me, it makes my workout that much better! I just went to the grocery store in my workout clothes the other day too (after kettlebell class)! I was pretty gross! LOL! You look great!

  4. Love this post, and it's reminding me to kick myself in the pants and do something ACTIVE! Good idea to wear workout clothes until you're motivated enough to actually DO something!
