Birthday Extravaganza - It's the Bangs.

The 29 year-old brunette w/bangs.

The before blondie.

Today is my birthday and perhaps I went a little overboard. I've been storing up a little cash from Christmas presents and whatnot and today it is no longer burning a hole in my wallet.

It all started with the bangs.

Yesterday I got bangs cut. I haven't had bangs in a while. I've had little side sweepy things, but i finally got some more legit bangs. I woke up and thought to myself, before you take the scissors to your hair, call your stylist. I did and I was at the salon within an hour. I kind of have an addiction to changing my hair. Depending on when you met me you might think of me as blonde/brunette/long hair/short hair.
This past year I've gone from white blonde until just recently I went brunette. Brunette as in - my brother asked if my hair was black- brunette. It has since lightened up a little and grown into quite a natural chestnut brown. I have to say, it still shocks me a little when I look in the mirror every once in a while, but I like it. Change is good.

Anyways, I've also been growing out my hair. And ever since I've been growing it out I've been talking about chopping it off. It's a cycle I go through. Because as soon as I chop it off, I'll start going it back out. Well I haven't chopped it off yet but the bangs were one step closer.

I must feel sassier with bangs. Short hair usually does it, but the bangs are doing the trick. And maybe it's paired with the fact that I realized this is the last year in my 20s and that sooner than later our lives will only continue to change as we'll continue to "grow up" and be responsible.

That being said today I woke up and knew it was going to be an extravagant day. First up was a mani/pedi (as my husband hates when I call it that.) My nails are now hot pink with gold glitter. Then it was onto shoe shopping. Now I will say, my extravagance happens in stores like Marshalls - not Neiman Marcus.
I first fell in love with an extremely impractical pair of Steve Madden glitter pumps. Then I fell in love with a pair of black studded Sam Edelman booties. Since they were both on clearance they fell into my cart and came home with me.

Then onto the next shoe store. I bought a birthday dress yesterday - a little tradition of mine - and wanted a pair of shoes to go with them. The glitter pumps look HOTT with it, but I wanted something a little more ... casual. I found a khaki green pair of Nicole boots that I just HAD to get. I mean I've been looking for a new pair of boots for ... oh I don't know, a couple of years now?! Then I went to the dark side and got a pair of Uggs.

Yes, if you're keeping track, that's 4 new pairs of shoes. Yup. What can I say, I had to do it. It's my birthday, when else can you justify such extravagance?! And I don't have a lick of buyers remorse. I refused to let my little stack of cash disappear where it usually does - into coffees and crafts.

So now I have to show off my new shoes. It's only the right thing to do. You won't see the Uggs because they are on my feet. They're short and they're brown - not very exciting but oh so warm.

I still stand by the fact it started with the bangs.
And the fact I'm 29.

When do you feel super sassy?

As for day 4 of project 365 ... I'm working on it!

Oh, when I colored my hair dark about 5 years ago after having blond highlights for YEARS, I did the same thing for a few days, a little jump when I looked in the mirror. haha Then I got used to myself. I haven't had blond highlights since.
