Seriously, Anthropologie.

I'm linking up with Amanda's Weekend Reading Blog! So hello new readers!
Weekend Bloggy Reading

Okay. I mention Anthropologie a lot. Mostly how I love their clothes and their styling, but also how I don't own a single article of their clothing because it's so freakin' expensive.

You walk into the store or look online and see an outfit you love. For me it's never usually one item that I love it's the whole look - like the outfit pictured above. How cute is that? So, if you really wanted to purchase the above outfit, you're looking at about $400. I mean come on, the look is thrift store vintage eclectic. For $400? I don't think so. I'm pretty sure that's why I have never ended up shopping there. The dress $168, the shoes, $168, the scarf, $38 and the tights $18. That's a lot of money for a cutesy-casual, funky outfit.

But fashion inspires me and looking at Anthropolgie's styling inspires me too. My favorite part is getting inspired by a look and then creating it myself. By actually shopping at thrift stores, bargain shops and mixing & matching with other wardrobe staples.

My latest exciting find was a pair of suede slouch boots. I've been looking to replace my "casual" everyday boots for the past year (actually 2 years now). I have not been able to find exactly what I want, but decided the suede slouch boot was the best replacement for a casual boot. After shopping EVERYWHERE, I couldn't find any that I liked. Well, I found SOME. Any that I found, were at least $80 for a cheapishly made boot. I'm willing to pay for a good quality pair of boots, but I was not finding any! Gianni Bini is considered a good brand and their shoes aren't cheap. Sometimes you pay for what you get, but the boots I tried on, although they were not cheap, they were cheaply made. They were not built to last. To be honest, I'm pretty appalled at the lack of quality of a LOT of the boots I've tried on this year. So, instead of paying $80 for a cheaply made pair of boots, I went to Payless and found great knockoffs for half the price. I left with a pair of tall suede slouch boots AND a pair of ankle booties for a grand total of $54. Compared to $140, I'd say I'd scored a good deal.

On a completely separate note, have you ever read or seen the book "Stuff White People Like" by Christian Lander? It is HILARIOUS! I got the calendar for my husband while he was in Iraq. He usually saved the funny ones to share with me. There was a post about how "white people" love Anthropologie. I SO wish I could find it online! When he comes home, I'll share it with you. (My husband saved it for me!) It is SO funny!

Check out his blog and read some of his posts about "stuff white people like". You're guaranteed to laugh at how true some of it is!

Anyways ... enough of my random post!
