The name has not yet been decided, and the store is in the works, but here's a sneak peak of some of the things you'll see!
I've actually reserved two names on Etsy, but still not sure that I've picked the right name yet.
So, while I'm packing up house and getting ready to leave to see the hubby ... I OBVIOUSLY had to display my goods, take a few photos and blog about them.
This started by me cleaning, then before I know it I'm sidetracked and googling about my latest vintage finds. Which, by the way, I scored 5 bottles of unused vintage perfumes circa era 1960s. I just imagine some sophisticated older woman who purchased these in her 30's. She probably had a mirrored vanity, wore red lipstick, high heels every day and fur coats in the winter.
It was a shame to see those bottles just sitting in the Goodwill, so I swiped them up and will find them a proper home. Another sophisticated woman who will appreciate the care that probably went into purchasing these perfumes. Or were they gifts from her husband over the years? Perfumes that she never really cared for, but held onto for sentimental reasons?
Either way, the shopping for my new store has begun.
(Has actually been in the works for some time, by my inability to walk away from dishes and other exciting vintage finds.)
You'll find vintage Taylor Smith & Taylor, Mikasa, Fashion Manor Storeware dishes, Vintage Bake King bakeware, Williamsburg Soap & Candle Company Taper candles, brass owl napkin rings, 1940s Music Hymnals, Organ Music, a book called ABC XYZ of the Bee Culture, vintage Japanese decorative plates & dishes ... and more.
Oh I will have much fun with these.
You're talking to the woman who wished there was a place I could register for estate China before we got married.
I just love things that have a story to them. Knowing they belonged in another household and lived another life is just so intriging to me. It's more than just "vintage" items. It's what it represents, or the stories that we can imagine belong to them.
These dishes sat on someone's table over meals shared, cups of coffee and tea drank and stories told.
My hubby knows this little tid-bit about me. My engagement ring is a 1940s art-deco estate ring. It even had an engraving on it before he purchased it for me. It's amazing to think another woman wore this ring. That another man got down on his knee and asked a woman to marry him with the same ring that I wear today.
That she probably wore this ring her entire life. And for whatever the circumstances were, it ended up in a jewelry store. Maybe there was no daughter or daughter in-law to pass it onto. Or maybe they just didn't appreciate the story it held and sold it. That's okay by me, because it's on my finger now.
So I became side-tracked once again.
I just meant to share some photos!
Enjoying window shipping!
Ooo la la! I see owls. :)
