While Kathlyn and I are neither of those ... I think the pictures & blog title represent the sentiments of our "Craft" show today. Somehow we both kind of missed the memo that it was CraftSLASHYard sale. We were the only two out of about twenty booths that were actually selling crafts. The rest of the "booths" looked like folks had taken a big armful of what was on the bottom of their closet and put it on a table to try and sell.
Shoot, I should have done that!
Needless to say it was not much success.
Don't get me wrong, I LOVE a yard sale. But when you're there with folks looking to score a deal for a quarter or less than a dollar, when you have to tell them your jewelry is $20 you'd think you had told them it was $200. I don't blame them though. We were a little out of place. Artists can't compete with yard sale prices!
So ... I felt a little out of place.
But weren't out booths cute?!
I did score some very cool vintage dishes from Germany ... details to come.
One necklace sale, minus booth fee, minus breakfast, minus vintage dish shopping = loss & lesson learned.
Oh well, we both packed up early and went home, a little wet (from the misty weather) and dirty from the sandy/dirt our booths were on. That's okay, we both had lots to do.
Did any of you go thrifting/yard sale-ing this weekend? I'd love to hear your finds!
Time to finish up my TO DO list so I can leave for NC!
Yippee!
Your booths are precious! Be proud that you and your wares looked cute as pie and hope for better sales next time?
ReplyDeleteYour booths looked great, and I think you're wise to understand why the show didn't go as planned. Yard sale peeps are CHEAP...I should know, I'm one of them. ;) BUT, if I were there, I would have been powerless to resist y'alls booths. :)
ReplyDeleteI did go yard saling this morning with a friend and we had some great finds! :) I'm posting about it tomorrow!
Thanks ladies!
ReplyDeleteWe'll call it our trial run for the summer market we'll both be doing!
Amanda, I can't wait to see what you found! Thrift shop show and tell is always exciting!
your booths look great! i had my first show today at a local school, and it was almost a total bust. i made my booth fee, but then had to buy lunch. they didn't advertise well so there was NO traffic. so lame. i will not be doing that one again. sorry that your's was a bust, too! better luck next time. have so much fun with your hubby!
ReplyDeleteYour booths looked great. Too bad everyone else wasn't selling handcrafted items, too.
