Operation Keep Busy

Me and hubby looking pretty dejected, hours before he left!

This is what sad people look like waiting around!

This is what a group of soldiers look like getting ready to go!

The sad people watching their soldiers . . .

The buses that came and took them away!

The time has come, and duty called. My hubby has deployed and will be gone for 12 months. (We say that instead of a year.) I have already purchased a new calendar and started my official countdown. It's pretty difficult to try and comprehend a year without my hubby, so I don't. It's just a day at a time. Almost anything is possible one day at a time.
Before he left, we sat down and came up with lists of things we wanted to accomplish during these 12 months. For me, it was to remind me of all the things I am interested in and want to do. And now I have the perfect opportunity to try and knock some of them out. Here's my list:

1. OPERATION DANCING QUEEN: Take a dance class. (I've always loved Riverdance, but would LOVE to take a hip hop class and discover the inner soul sistah!)
2. OPERATION LINGUIST: Study Spanish and french. I know a little bit of each of these languages, more of Spanish, but have said for years I would like to be more fluent in either or both.
3. OPERATION JEWELRY - KY: Send more jewelry to the Kentucky Museum of Art and Craft. My jewelry has sold pretty well there, time to send some more!
4. OPERATION JEWELRY - GA: Sell my jewelry and crafts locally. There's a couple of stores that I think my jewelry would do well, just need to follow up!
5. OPERATION CRAFT: Participate in a craft show.
6. OPERATION ALBUM: Update our photo albums.
7. OPERATION MEMORIES: Make window boxes for David's OCS and basic training memorabilia.
8. OPERATION WRITING: Work on my writing and submit some articles to local magazines or writing contests.
9. OPERATION MUD ROOM: Paint and "fix up" our mud room and laundry room.
10. OPERATION 10K: Run a 10k, MAYBE another 1/2 marathon.
11. OPERATION GO TIME: Get more fit, stronger, and lose some of this extra weight!
12. OPERATION PULL UP: I've always wanted to do one!
13. OPERATION ETSY: Get better at listing stuff on my etsy site. I have a hard time with the follow through on this one. I'm currently sitting on about 17 IPod/IPhone/Cell Phone/Camera cases, 5 knitted bangles, 2 knitted necklaces, and a partridge in a pear tree.
14. OPERATION GRAD SCHOOL: Follow up on my grad school interest in counseling.

So far I've begun Operation Go Time, Operation Grad School, and Operation Etsy.
It keeps me busy while I'm busy missing my hubby!
