Two years ago yesterday on September 21st, my 11 year-old cousin Gloria Marie Strauss lost her battle with
neuroblastoma cancer. Her faith and her family's faith was followed and reported in a series called
"A Prayer for Gloria" by Jerry Brewer from the Seattle Times newspaper, and her impact in this world is her miracle. A "
Gloriathon" has been started and David and I walked 1.1 miles in her memory along with family members and friends across the nation that participated on Sunday.
The
book about her life, called
Gloria's Miracle is out now and I look forward to reading it. I had the opportunity to spend fall break during my senior year at
Notre Dame with their family, and Gloria's joy and faith will always be remembered. What a special little girl and what a special family.
