So yesterday was David's 25th BIRTHDAY! I'm glad he's finally catching up to me! We're 2.5 years apart in age, so before yesterday he was 24 and I was 27. I like the sound of 25 and 27 much better :-)
Anyways, he had to work on his birthday, but I tried to make it was special as possible. Not only did he have to work. But he JUST came back from being in the field for 10 straight days. Not only was he out there for 10 days, but it RAINED EACH DAY! Not only did it rain each day, but he got on average, 2-3 hours of sleep a night! Not only did he have to work THIS year on his birthday, but he was in basic training last year, so there was DEFINITELY no celebrating!
So needless to say it was a real bummer when he had to work on SATURDAY on HIS BIRTHDAY! But we celebrated when he got home and I did my darndest to bring about the birthday spirit. But we're also going to celebrate when we go back to North Carolina with family. It's only fair.
Before David got back on Friday night, I put up some streamers, grenade balloons and a Welcome Home balloon. For his birthday, I added to the festivities! I put up WAY MORE streamers - bathroom, bedroom, living room included. Put balloons EVERYWHERE, on the door, on the couch, on the bed, and put up birthday banners & signs. I wanted him to be SURROUNDED by birthday goodness when he got home.
We met up with some of his buddies and ate dinner at our FAVORITE Mexican restaurant, Los Chalupas (the best) then came home for BIRTHDAY CAKE and PRESENTS! I was so excited about his cake, I almost tried to make him look at it at lunch, but he refused and wanted to wait until there were candles. Thank goodness I have him to keep me in line! It was an ARMY TANK cake with a toy tank transformer on top.
I think he liked it.
So . . . HAPPY BIRTHDAY BABY! You're 25 and I'm SO PROUD OF YOU!
