This past weekend David and I hopped in the car and made the drive back home to North Carolina. The 9ish hour drive really wasn't too bad. Car rides ain't nothin' for us! We always find ways to amuse ourselves.
Here's some of the ways we keep ourselves occupied:
1. Play the, "I went on a vacation and packed" Game, naming things from A-Z. David and I wrote our original "packing list" from our last trip (to South Bend) and tried to remember that one.
2. The Boo-Yeah Game. One person yells out statements enthusiastically, to which the other person replies with BOOOO or YEAHHH!!! For example:
"We're going out tonight!" - YEAHHH!
"Hope we don't get caught in the snow!" - BOOO!!!
"If we do, we'll just have a snowball fight!" - YEAHHH!
"But we might catch colds!" - BOOO!!!!
"And get really sick!" - BOOO!!!
"But we'll stay home from work, watch movies and play games!" - YEAHHH!!!
"Then it's back to work!" - BOOO!!!
"But we'll be making money!" - YEAHHH!!
"And we'll go out again!" - YEAHH!!
This game can be played to no end, inventing all sorts of B00-Yeahh situations.
Caution: It plays with your emotions, pulling you from extreme HI to LO, so beware, it is possible you may laugh hysterically and have it turn into tears. It's been known to happen.
3. The Invention Game. Each player has to come up with an invention, from ludicrous to realistic. David invented a "Force Field Protector" and I invented a "Casserole Dish Marker." He accused my invention of being those kind that you get for free with the purchase of something else. Our other invention is top secret, as we think we are really onto something.
4. The How Many Different Ways Can We Sing This Song Game. Choosing Britney Spears, "Oh Baby" song as our base song, we sang this with many different versions: Acapella, Opera, Country, Rap, Musical, Broadway, Church. It is actually quite a challenging game, as you are not only interpreting a song into a new style, but harmonizing with your partner.
5. SILLY PUTTY! I played with this for 6 hours. It's a nostalgic, stress reliever and an extremely fun toy. You can pick up your own Silly Putty Egg at Michael's for $1.00 We have 2.
Along the Silly Putty lines, on one of my last trips to Michaels, I found this aisle full of AWESOME toys and games for not more than a couple of bucks. I picked up some toys for David and I - we're going to have a date night soon. Not only did this aisle have Silly Putty, but it had those Perler Bead kits - you know, those little plastic beads you put on this pegged plastic board, and then iron so they melt together and make a thingie. We each have one of those, mine's a butterfly and his is a skull and cross bones.
Then, for more than a couple bucks, I found some Sculpey clay, that after you bake, it is stretchy, kind of like Gumbie. So, we'll be trying that out soon. Oh yeah, I also bought David a Parachute guy, for him to throw out the window and watch parachute to the ground. He loves those things.
Anyways . . . hope this helps on your next car ride!
