St. Patty's Day Saturday

Ireland is up on our list to places to travel to together.
He's been there once before,
but it's time for us to go together!

St. Patrick's day is only ... 12 days away and I kind of HAVE to celebrate it! Hey, I went to the school of the Fighting Irish and married a Mac. (Actually, he's officially a Mc and is of scottish descent, but now is not the time to get technical - we both have Irish blood regardless!)

While I don't really get into decorating my house for St. Patty's Day, I will most certainly be wearing green and drinking green.

This year my husband and I are diligently trying to get our back yard looking good so we can host a party. Even his work knows the importance of St. Patrick's day celebrations - he has Friday off!

Here's a few things you MUST do on St. Patrick's Day.

1. Wear something green.

2. Pinch anyone who is not wearing green.

3. Drink Irish beer or green beer.

Do you celebrate St. Patrick's Day? What do you do to celebrate?

  1. Those necklaces are great! I do love me some green beer! :) One of my girlfriends is such a Notre Dame fan, we know not to talk to her for about 24 hours if there is a ND football game on, and not to talk to her for 48 or so if they lose.
    Happy St. Patty's Day.

  2. I have to wear green on St. Patty's Day or my students would never let me live it down. I usually bring in some green ribbon to make a little green something for anyone who forgets.

A party to celebrate sounds fun!

  3. I live in Savannah, home to the 2nd largest St. Pats parade in the US...I've already got a whole week's worth of green outfits planned! LOL...esp with it being on a Thursday this year....we've got Lots of partying to do! They even "green" the fountains downtown...its such an ordeal, that those of us lucky enough to work downtown get the day off...because everyone knows traffic will be so bad we won't ever make it to work anyway...so we get up really early, pack a breakfast and some snacks, don our green-head-to-toe outfits and drag our chairs down Broughton street to "claim" our traditional spot for the parade! Its the best!! (I'm a Mc too....)

  4. @Barbara - I am dying to go to Savannah! My husband and I will make it there for St. Patrick's day one day! I think we want to go there first for just a "normal" weekend. I've heard so much about it!
@Vivienne - that is hilarious about your friend! My uncle is the same way! I'm happy either way - watching the games remind me of being in the stands as a student!
@Paula - I had never actually heard of the pinching thing until I moved to Georgia. Or maybe I was just always wearing green until then!
Happy St. Patrick's day to you all!
