Knot Factory Made

A couple of weeks ago I got the creative itch again and came up with several new necklace designs. I'm in love with statement jewelry because they can transform an entire outfit. You can have a simple wardrobe but pair it with unique jewelry and shoes and you have a one of a kind look.

That pretty much sums up my style as a designer. I don't design clothes. I design accessories that transform clothes in any closet.

My husband helped me come up with the name for my new collection - Knot Factory Made.

As a designer and artist, the biggest dilemma I deal with is pricing my work. With this collection, I want to try and convey that each and every stitch on these necklaces, and with all my work in fact, is hand made by me. There's not a single stitch that I didn't create. My husband always helps remind me to be unapologetic about my work. I often find myself apologizing when I tell the price. Perhaps it would help if I wrote on the label what went into each necklace - design, time, supplies, time, and more time?

I know many people try and sell their crafts simply to support a hobby. That's not what I'm trying to do. I love to create and I try to create beautiful pieces that I'm proud of. I spend time designing, creating, dreaming then creating some more. This isn't a hobby, it's a way of life for the designer, the artist, the creative person. I truly believe that handmade is better, even if it comes at a price.

So although I'm sure someone somewhere could mass produce these necklaces, slap a label on them and sell them for much much cheaper, they are NOT mass produced. And NOT factory made. They are HAND made. By me.

They are meant to be one of a kind pieces, that any woman should feel special when she puts it on.
So if that means waiting for the customer who truly appreciates the handmade detailing, so be it :-)

Either way, this is my latest collection and I'm proud! I love them! The first and the last are my favorites. Looks like I'll be making an extra one to keep!
