Just another date that passes,
For many who give no thought,
About the men that risked their lives
And the many that were lost.
America, what have you done
To honor those who fought,
Through waves and sand and fear,
Did they even get a thought?
In the summer I stood before them,
And stood upon their ground,
Their names were in the wind,
Waves crashing to the ground.
The only thing I took,
To remember that day's cost,
Was a shell, now on my dresser,
In memory of those lost.
So another date that passes,
Just like many have before,
This is one I will remember,
And never let ignore.
