Friday afternoon, my phone rang. I was in bed, not ready to answer, so I let it ring. Then it rang again, Amber was calling. I answered to a somewhat panicked friend, saying she had to go to the grocery store before the roads got bad because she was down to her last one can of soup. "It's SNOWING!" she said.
"What?!! It's SNOWING?!"
I hopped out of bed, opened the window, and sure enough, big snowflakes were falling down and sticking to the ground. I was like a giddy school girl, armed with a snow day and an adventure ahead. I couldn't stop smiling that this time the weather people were right! Yesterday at the mention of snow, I laughed it off sarcastically and said I'd believe it when I saw the snow falling from the sky and sticking to the ground.
Well, it was!
A good friend got off early from work and came over. After piling on layers and layers of clothes making our own snow suits, we walked around the park and enjoyed the falling snow, because we knew it wouldn't last. We even made an awesome bow-tie wearing, mohawk-sporting snow-dude!
Then after warming back up with some coffee and tea, we headed down the street to the once-panicked friend's house. She made it to the grocery store, and made a big bowl of chili to share.
After stuffing ourselves with chili and cornbread, we went back out to the park. We had a snowball fight, and saw that our original snow dude was dead. After vengefully knocking over some other snow people, we made the cutest snow couple that ever lived.
We made the best of our 24-hour winter wonderland, because the next day, the sun was shining and the snow was melting.
