Flower Power

Bouquet #1 - My little rose bunch.

Bouquet #2: Beautiful Blooming Daylilies.

Bouquet #3: Vase full wild-flowers.

For my birthday, Hubby sent me a beautiful bouquet of flowers. Remember the photo from this post? You can see how much the roses and daylilies have bloomed, and that was 10 days ago now! Yesterday, since some of the flowers were starting to look a little droopy, I decided to break apart the bouquet and turn it into 3 mini bouquets. It's a great way to "freshen" up a bouquet and enjoy the flowers that are still blooming beautifully. Now I have three vases of flowers around the house. Thanks Hubby for my birthday flowers!

Here's some tips I found to prolong the life of your flower arrangements:

* Make sure your vases are clean
* Cut the ends of all stems at an angle. When "rearranging" your flowers, re-cut them.
* Add a crushed aspirin tablet for a large vase, and half a tablet for smaller vases. This prevent the growth of bacteria which causes flowers to wilt and stems to droop.
* Replace water every 3-4 days.
* Spray a light mist on your flower arrangement every several days to ensure proper moisture.
* Make sure no leaves or foliage are submerged in the water, as they will rot quickly and allow bacteria to develop, killing the arrangement.
* Keep arrangements away from direct sunlight, and heating/cooling vents.
