Life Is Good

Man. Vacation really is a wonderful thing. Not that I have been working really hard these days, but my husband has been working hard towards graduation from BOLCIII May 19th. Since then we left Kentucky for the LAST TIME and drove home to North Carolina. We have much to look forward too (moving and making a home, David getting to his Unit) and we have much to celebrate (3 weeks vacation, a birthday, GRADUATION) - and we've been anticipating this much deserved and needed vacation for quite some time! I know it kept David going during his last 2 weeks in the field.
After much debate and dreaming, we settled on Old Faithful vacation spot, Bald Head Island. A special place for both of us with many happy memories. Well so far, it has been WONDERFUL!
We've grilled out, went kayaking, ate fresh fish, went boating, took the boat to Provision Company and had crab cakes and beer, laid out on the beach, had a wonderful dinner at the Club (as part of David's birthday present from his folks), played wii Fit, and have had just a wonderful time in general. And it's only Friday . . . we've been here a week today, and play to stay through the weekend.
David reports to Fort Benning June 12th, and we're not going to report much sooner than that.
We have also not thought TOO much about what we're going to do once we get there. This week it's been a "DON'T GO THERE" subject. We are on VACATION, and will figure things out once we get there.
Now, we're not being oblivous, we've done research already, have looked at homes, rentals, put in housing application on post, and are preapproved for a home loan (YEAHHHH!) but we've decided we're on vacation, and don't want to talk about it right now.
During this vacation, I've had lots of "Life is Good" moments. You know those t-shirts that have that motto written on the front with cute little characters doing something outdoorsy?! Well, you know you're having a good vacation when you start saying to yourself, Life is Good.
Today we went out on the new Triumph Boat, went to the pool for lunch and drinks, came home for a few games of wii Fit then headed to Eb & Flo's to watch boats come back from a day of fishing for Bald Head Island's 18th Annual Fishing Rodeo.
His cousin just arrived for the weekend, so we're all sitting around, bonding over beers and wii. Tomorrow David, Jon and I will venture to take the boat back out and head back over to the Provision Company again. Yes, it's just that good. And I guarantee we'll leave there saying "Life is Good."
