What a crazy past week.
Last weekend Mom and Dad M. and I drove to Lexington to meet up with the hubby (although Dad M. did ALL the driving!!!) - it was his last weekend off for a while, so we seized the opportunity and had a big time in Lexington.
Turns out last weekend was a BIG horse racing weekend at Keeneland. And we thought it would be a fun thing to do. Well, it was a ZOO! Absolutely packed with people. As Hubby put it - it was like a Nascar race, people were just dressed nicer. We still managed to have a good time though, and went back to the hotel and lounged around the pool before meeting the Lancasters at Jean Farris Winery for dinner.
If you go to Lexington ever, I highly recommend this restaurant. We sat out on their open deck, a singer strummed his acoustic guitar and sang quietly in the background, and the setting was just beautiful. It was a magical night - but mostly because of the company.
The weekend went by WAY too quickly, as we left Lexington on Sunday afternoon - sad to leave my hubby, but so proud of him!
On another note . . . Sunday night not too long after getting into Southern Pines, my dear friend Angela called to let me know her sister Amanda died after a 5 year battle with pancreatic cancer. She was 28 and a beautiful and strong person. I've been in Laurinburg since Monday and am thankful that timing worked out that I have been able to be in town.
I'm so proud of Angela and how strong she has been. Her family has truly been filled with grace this week, and it is a true blessing. Keep them in your prayers. Oh, and I got ADORABLE pictures of Angela and Danny's little Molly Marie - I'll have to post some of those pictures soon!
Well . . . my half marathon is THIS SATURDAY!!!! I'm doing one put on the Scotland Memorial Hospital right here in Laurinburg and pretty nervous about it. But you know what, I'm doing it for me, so how worried should I be? I'm just blessed to be healthy.
