Today's Saving Tip

TIP - Switch Coffee Brands!
Consumer Reports names Eight O'Clock Coffee the Best Rated Coffee

So I'm excited about a little money saving tip I've stumbled upon and thought I'd share. Like most good natured Americans, David and I brew a pot of coffee each morning, which means we go through about a 12 ounce bag in a week.
Well, we used to splurge and buy the $5.99 Starbucks coffee. Then we decided to switch to Eight O'clock Coffee, which costs only $2.50 per bag at the Commissary. If you buy the Original roast, you get a $1.00 off coupon inside the bag, making the next purchase only $1.50. Then I discovered the Eight O'Clock Coffee Rewards Program "Accumul8 Rewards". For each bag you purchase and register online, you get 140 points, plus 100 points for your first entry, and 35 points for friend referrals (up to 5 people who actually register). And while there are other items you can purchase with your rewards points, the $25 Visa Gift Card is the most worthwhile, which takes 2500 points to acquire.
2500 - 100 for initial sign up, is 2400. Divided by 140 for points per bag (12 oz size) rounds out to 18 bags. 18 bags at $1.50 = $27.
So, after I purchase $27 dollars in coffee (which would be about 18 weeks worth of coffee), I get a $25 Visa Gift Card - basically free coffee! Even if the $1.00 off coupon doesn't last forever, let's say I have to pay the $2.50 for coffee, times 18 bags = $45, minus the $25 Gift Card I would earn, means $20 for 18 weeks of coffee.
Either way, I'm excited about this little way to save!
And to think, we were spending $5.99 a week, that makes out to be over $107 for 18 weeks worth!
*** I just read the Terms & Conditions, and while this program has been going on for a year, it ends this June 14th. So, looks like I'll only have time to take advantage of this offer once! And you can only register up to 840 pts per month, so I have to max out this month, May & June to get my $25 Visa Gift Card!
