Birthday at the Brown!

Since David's class starts tomorrow, we celebrated this weekend with a trip to Louisville. I was in charge of looking up some places to go shopping and explore, David was in charge of choosing a place to stay and where to eat dinner.
We went back to the Kentucky Museum of Art and Craft because I am going to look into having my jewelry displayed there. Then we went to the Zephyr Gallery and reminisced about being in art school. Right across the street was an old building, called Jo Ley Antiques. We went in and explored the unbelievable massive collection of antiques.
They had a whole room full of table legs, stacks and stacks of fire place mantles, bicycles, vintage postcards, an awesome collection of antique toys, jewelry, home furnishings. It was a little overwhelming! We didn't even venture upstairs or into the basement. All I left with were a few old postcards.
On our way to the hotel, we passed a huge motorcycle shop and HAD to stop. The sparkle and excitement in David's eyes was too apparent to simply drive by! They carried Ducati bikes and David got to sit on several and chat it up with the owner. After being left to wander on our own, another employee walked over after hearing David and I mention we were military and from North Carolina. He reminisced with David about OCS at Benning. He was a retired lawyer from Louisville working part-time at this motorcycle enthusiast shop. We very much enjoyed chatting with him.
Then off to the hotel!
David chose the Brown Hotel, and historic building and monument of the city. It was DECADENT! The lobby was beautiful, our room luxurious! Since we were on the club floor we checked into our room and were just in time for happy hour for a few cocktails and munchies before dinner. We ate at the storied English Grille inside the hotel. We wined, dined and truly enjoyed the evening. I can't believe I'm 27 years old now! (Well, officially tomorrow!)
