My Dream Shop

I have day-dreamed about this often: the type of store I would love to one day own.
I want it to be the kind of store that draws you in from the street and you simply cannot leave without something. Where you find just the thing you didn't know you were looking for. Tea cups and linens that remind you of summers at your grandmother's house. Notecards and stationary that inspire you to write love letters and hellos to old friends.

A piece of jewelry you will pass down to your daughter and granddaughter. Not diamonds and pearls, but a piece of jewelry that will give them a little insight to your personality and style. And they'll wear it and try and imagine how you did ... back in the day.

You find a collection of vintage buttons and fabric trimmings that you'll want to refashion a sweater with, and old brass candlestick holders picture on your dining room table or in your kitchen windowsill.
A place where you're encouraged to sit down and look through the art & fashion books, or join in on one of the crafting classes. You'll learn how to turn a photograph into a silhouette, or you'll find a vintage poster that will go perfectly on that empty wall in your hallway.

The kind of shop that makes you feel inspired and nostalgic all at once, and whatever you leave with makes you feel a little closer to home.

That will be my little shop. Until then, it's my little dream shop.

  2. Sarah, I would love your shop....and so would many others. It makes me feel happy just reading about it! I remember making silhouettes with my mother!
