So this is week 3 of Project 365. If you're not sure what Project 365 is, you can read about it here, but I'm still making up the rules as I go. Although I did complete 7 projects this week it wasn't one each day. This morning I finished up 3, but that's okay. Project 365 is accomplishing it's purpose, it got me going this morning to crank out a few final projects. So take a look at what I've been crafting this week.
Project 1 - Adorable paper flag banners!
I've seen these all over bloggyland, and I just HAD to make my own and I love how they turned out. I can't remember where I read this, but one blogger was just going to give them to friends for a little smile. And that's when I was on board. So, I made these tiny flag banners and found tiny clothes pins, and am going to send them to friends when I think they might need an extra smile in their life. They can hang it up at work, on their lampshade, anywhere! I told my husband I was going to give him and his boss one. He didn't think it was a good idea :-) Oh well. Maybe if it was black, and camo, and had skull and cross bones on it. Still, I doubt it.
Project 2 - Recycled Sweater Vase or Candle Holder. Check out my tutorial here.
You can't tell how big this is from the photo, but it is about a 10" tall hurricane. When I was at the thrift store the other day I saw another sweater I couldn't walk away from. It was an 100% aran knit from Ireland. Maybe this was sacrilege, but I cut it to pieces because I knew the sleeves would work beautifully for a recycled sweater vase/candle holder. This one would make a better candle holder. With a small pillar candle inside, this hurricane is going to cast a beautiful warm glow. I need to go back and get another vase to make a set. Then they will eventually be listed on etsy - if they don't end up on my mantle instead.
You can see my current Recycled Sweater Vase listings here and here.
Project 3 - Geeky Photo Frames
I had made a few of these a while back, but getting back into the swing of Valentine's Day I thought I'd make a few more. The keyboard keys are from when my husband dismantled his broken keyboard and saved them for me knowing I'd probably want them in my craft stash. He was right :-) I will eventually list these on etsy, one is a 5"x7" frame, and the other 4"x6". Let me know if you're interested! Check out my first Geeky Photo frames here.
Project 4 - Recycled Sweater Pillow
I'm kind of a pro at these now. Ha! Just kidding. But I have made about, oh, I don't know, 80 of these sweater pillows? Remember when posted a few photos here and here? This sweater is one I bought thrifting a while back. I was so drawn to the graphic print and had actually attempted to wear it several times. However, it did nothing for my buxom figure and made me look like a football player instead. In pads. That's when this beauty became a pillow. I'm on the hunt for 2 tall cylindrical vases so I can use the sleeves to make a few more recycled sweater vases because this graphic print would make a killer accent in the right home. The vases will definitely be listed on etsy - when I start/complete them, but I haven't yet decided on the pillow yet ;-)
Project 5 - Copper Cluster Pearl Earrings
I love pearls. Not your traditional solid strand of pearls (unless it's like strand after strand after strand, or the super expensive huge freshwater pearl necklaces). But I love the pearls that have texture, shape and color. So I decided to make a pair of earrings that I would want to wear, and that's when I made this little cluster of pearls earring on a crocheted copper wire base.
Project 6 & 7 - Sweet Heart Valentine's Day Necklaces in Red & Pale PInk
My first version of this necklace was magenta, but I thought I'd cover my Valentine's Day colors and make a red & pink one when I was watching the Adams Family Values movie.
Well that's it. I have several items to list on etsy, including a few more vintage finds! But first things first, I have to get the house cleaned, work on a story, and then it's back to my "fun job".
What did you work on this weekend? Post a link to your favorite project and I'd love to check it out!

I love the variety of projects you've been working on, you have been one busy crafter! Flag banners are always fun and so super cute. The frames are really clever I've never seen ones like that and one would be perfect for my hubby. I like the one you spelled out Hugs on. ReplyDeleteThanks everyone! Katie - that's awesome! And Malia, I will definitely do a tutorial and let you know when I do :-)
ReplyDeleteFound you from the Sugar Bee linky. I LOVE these little pennants! I will definitely have to make these for my cubicle!! And I love the number and variety of projects you've been doing. I started my blog in December with similar intent (sans the daily commitment, lol) - to force myself to craft, which always takes the bad stress out of life, lol. I'm your newest follower, now! ~Lori
